Zywa Heir

It burns in the south, the wind
is hungry, its tongues of fire
lick the wood of the earth and
eat themselves to rich countries

while behind our backs in the north
the ice is melting and milliliters of water
are cutting thin slices off our country
and our prosperity, like sharpened steel

Yet I will, yet I want, yet I must
maintain it, if I can, if they let me
these frightened blonde giants here
who count back generations

to the great taciturn man
Father of the Nation and beggar
my example and ancestor
(one percent of my genes)

which means nothing, but
his expensive coat of blue blood
does matter, and the blazing fire
that makes me think of his death

Zywa Stamhouder

Het brandt in het zuiden, de wind
heeft honger, zijn tongen van vuur
likken het hout van de aarde en
eten zich naar rijke landen

terwijl achter onze rug in het noorden
het ijs smelt en milliliters water
als geslepen staal dunne repen
afsnijden van ons land en de welvaart

die ik zal, die ik wil, die ik moet
handhaven, als ik kan, als ik mag
van de bange blonde reuzen hier
die generaties terugtellen

tot aan de grote zwijgende man
Vader des vaderlands en bedelaar
mijn voorbeeld en voorvader
(één procent van mijn genen)

wat niets te betekenen heeft, maar
zijn dure jas van blauw bloed
doet ertoe, en het oplaaiende vuur
waardoor ik denk aan zijn dood

Zywa Stammhalter

Es brennt im Süden, der Wind
ist hungrig, seine Feuerzungen
lecken das Holz der Erde und
fressen sich nach reiche Länder

während hinter unserem Rücken im Norden
das Eis schmilzt und Milliliter Wasser
wie geschärfter Stahl dünne Streifen
unseres Landes und Wohlstands abschneiden

Ich werde, ich will, ich muss das
bewahren, wenn ich kann, wenn ich darf
von den verängstigten blonden Riesen hier
die Generationen zurückzählen

bis zum großen schweigenden Mann
Vater der Nation und Bettler
mein Vorbild und Vorfahre
(ein Prozent meiner Gene)

was nichts zu bedeuten hat, aber
sein teurer Mantel aus blauem Blut
zählt, und das lodernde Feuer zählt
das mich an seinen Tod denken lässt
