Zywa Yorkshire

Surveying the landscape
on a working visit, along paths
beside the brown bubbling

water of the mountain stream
with dippers and dragonflies
over grass full of foxglove

between large blocks of granite
and somewhere beyond that
the occasional bleating of a sheep

past a marshy field
with little splash-fountains
of frogs hopping about

and passing under the waterfall
that splashes into a dark
swirling pool

reaching a cave
where the floor is mossy
and the air is chilly

and the walls light up
in a pattern of flashes
that flare up white

Sinking there
in the dim, yet white, emptiness
and breathing deeper

Zywa Full of flowers

Sometimes, outside is more
than being on the road
with an agenda full
of health care

with a head full
of things to arrange
and a belly full
of metabolic problems

but also a heart full
of zest for life
that keeps me going
and gets me out of bed

Sometimes, outside is more
than infectious air -
the space of a quiet park
the freedom of my pure self

in good times and bad
all year round
under thin or thick clothes:
full of flowers

Zywa Space, ease, myself

Space, ease, myself
breathing, feeling the stitches
under my ribs and the poison
in my body, in my head

Not thinking about that
Every day a friend
who cares
about her own interests

No curiosity, patronising
and consolation, only
an embrace and
being spoiled a bit

Awake, not dreaming
in my sleep, walking around
in the colours of the world
and eating roasted peanuts

in the park, the park
always a park
a forest, a dike or a beach
and otherwise my balcony

The long river shifts under the moon
The moon shifts wearily over the long river
On the long river under the moon, the canoe shifts to the sea

Past the highreeds
past the lowgraze
the canoe shifts to the sea
the canoe shifts with the shifting moon to the sea
So they are companions to the sea the canoe the moon and the man
Why are the moon and the man shifting so yieldingly to the sea

Zywa Outer refuge

Shorn sheep warm themselves in the sun
shade under the crooked trees

a bathtub tilted to a trough
the dike ditch a ribbon of red algae

peeled signs on the border
water and land

the rippling nibbling on the slope
grass beds along the crest-path

I walk along the wide water
no screeching tyres here

sometimes on Sou'wester days
the seagulls and the wind

laundry flapping at the back
white as the sails in the lurid light

the sea level silvered by the sky
the horizon bent between the banks

the water arches over the green valley
swaying and waving seaweed nymphs

charm beneath the waves
treasures seemingly for the taking

golden yellow stones in the Shire Sea

Zywa The easy life

In soft winter light
it is easy
to live on the country

Work, rest, and be at home
The harmony of exterior
sounds and scents

A distant horizon
High silver traces
dissolving in the sky

After the harvest
do less
talk less

and breathe
more, with the soughing
and rustling of the wind
