Zywa Melancholy [2]

Somewhere there, beneath the mists
in the valley, is the boundary
I do not want to cross

I brace myself
I cannot and will not
be indifferent

to what is disappearing
with me: my experiences
of beauty

my knowledge and my awareness
of what is valuable and
what is not important

to concern oneself with
To save something
I keep placing lamps

Look! There is something to see here!
There is something to be gained here!
Look! before the light goes out...

Zywa The new world

A hot air balloon hung motionless
in the sky, we stepped out
of the vintage car

by some inventory
on the cobblestones
behind us, my older self stood

on the iron bridge watching
how we and the dog looked
around in the new world

which rose
half-dreamed, half in brick
from the mist of the old

Belgian land beneath
the clouds of time
and the threat

of the wind that will
blow away everything
dear to us

Lothar Wolleh (Berlin 1930-1979) took the photo "René and Georgette Magritte with their dog after the war" in their home in Brussels in 1967
Paul Simon released the album "Hearts and Bones" in 1983, with the song "René and Georgette Magritte with their dog after the war"; on the website songlexicon.com there is an illustration with this song, inspired by the photo from Lothar Wolleh and by Margritte's work

Do I still feel like

starting something new if it --

won't last anyway?

Heb ik nog wel zinHabe ich noch Lust,
om aan iets te beginnen --etwas anzufangen, wenn --

dat niet duren zal?es nicht dauern wird?
